The Smoking Obsession.

Hello There,

So, this turns out to be the first blog I’ve ever written and hopefully not the last one. To start off, I never really thought I’d be writing a blog, but after reading through a few blogs I decided I’d start one too...

What I’m going to talk about today is something that has been stuck in my head ever since I actually entered the teenager phase and was exposed to this world- “The life of the teenager”. Have you ever wondered why kids who are not even sixteen smoke? Why do they take drugs? And most importantly ignore the consequences after having the knowledge about it too.

We have seen a lot of advertisements and even more of documentaries, heard so much of advice and learnt so much about the ill effects of smoking. If not, here are a few. In Brief it causes diseases affecting the heart and lungs i.e. lung cancer, heart strokes etc.

The problem of the present generation is that they think smoking is really ‘cool’. Hiding your habits from your parents, lying to get money so that you could buy yourself a pack of cigarettes and then hiding it, eating mints and washing your hands a million times to avoid the awful smell before you go home has increasingly become a trend. Some of the few reasons why teenagers smoke is to remove their frustration which might have been caused by their recent breakup they had with a person who obviously was not going to stay forever, I mean come on, how sure are you that you’re actually in love at this age? It’s just puppy love, nothing more than that, please! One of the other reasons why they smoke is because their forced by the people in their surroundings who might have either been forced by their friends or because they think it’s fun. This age is all about showing off so they think- "By smoking, she/he might think I’m cooler and I might have a chance with her/him". Please if you have a brain and the girl has one too she wouldn’t really care about your smoking habits to actually date you.

When I asked a few people what would be the reason behind them smoking, all they had to tell me was that it gave them the peace of mind they had been looking for. Honestly, it might give you the ‘peace’ you’re looking for but for a short period of time, do you have any idea about how is it affecting your body in the long run? And these are those people, when they fall sick due to viral fever or any other problem, their afraid to go to the doctors why? Because their scared their parents would find out and it would lead to things they dreaded. My question is, WHY DO YOU DO IT THEN? When you know what’s going to happen later on, when you know the ill effects, WHY ARE YOU RISKING YOUR LIFE?

Please, you should know you don’t really need to smoke to look cool. Have a good personality, learn how to face the world and look how many people look up to you.

Do leave in your comments
Byeeee.
